What if an automation says success and nothing happened?
Short answer
A success message means the workflow finished its steps. It does not mean the CRM row exists, the email left the building, or the same person was not created twice. The $120 package emails you when a step fails. Keeping the failed payload so it can be replayed, and making a retry safe, is the $450 package. Ask where a failed run is visible before you trust the green check.
Success is a weak word
Most tools mark a run successful when each module returned without throwing. The CRM can still reject a field, drop a required value, or accept a second copy of the same person. The log is green. The business is unchanged, or slightly worse.
The check that matters is on the far side: open the record, or confirm the alert fired. A builder who only shows you the tool’s own history is showing you the tool, not the outcome.
What is included where
Basic, $120, maps the fields before the build and notifies your inbox when a step fails. That is the minimum. You hear about a hard failure. You do not yet have a stored copy of the payload, and a blind retry can create a duplicate.
Standard, $250, is three lead sources into one CRM record, with de-duplication and a dated follow-up. A near-match is flagged rather than merged.
Premium, $450, is the version that survives a bad day: writes that are safe to retry, failed payloads stored, a view of what ran, and a handover of how to replay one.
Duplicates are the quiet failure
The same form submitted twice, or a retry after a timeout, should not become two people. Match on email or phone. If the match is close but not exact, stop and flag it. Guessing that two similar names are one customer is how records get destroyed.
What I will show you at handover
One run that worked, one run that failed on purpose, and where you were notified. If those two cannot be demonstrated in your accounts, the workflow is not finished. A screenshot from my instance is not the test.
This is what I do: Workflow Automation — three packages from $120.
